Need financial assistance to attend college? You’re not alone – during the 2011-12 academic year, Missouri postsecondary students received $2.5 billion in federal financial aid and nearly $1.2 billion in additional financial aid from other sources, such as from the state of Missouri and postsecondary schools.

Need help filling out your college financial aid paperwork? Free help is on the way. FAFSA Frenzy makes applying for financial aid easier by providing students with free help filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the first step in applying for federal financial aid and many state programs.

St. Louis Community College will host two events in March:

  • Thursday, March 12, 5-8 p.m., William J. Harrison Education Center, 3140 Cass Ave., St. Louis, Mo.
  • Thursday, March 26, 6:30-8 p.m., STLCC-Wildwood campus, 2645 Generations Drive, Wildwood, Mo.

Families will be able to complete the 2015-16 FAFSA on-site and obtain valuable information from financial aid professionals who will be on hand at both events to assist students and parents with the FAFSA process.

Participants are asked to bring:

  • 2014 W-2 forms.
  • Copies of your 2014 tax forms, if they are ready. If you or your parents have not yet filed your 2014 returns before you attend a 2015 FAFSA Frenzy event, be sure to bring any statements of interest earned in 2014, any 1099 forms, and any other forms required to complete your taxes. This will allow you and your parents to submit your FAFSA online during the event you attend. You will then need to go back to the FAFSA and submit corrections once tax returns are filed. The IRS Data Retrieval Tool should be available to help submit your corrections accurately within a few weeks after your tax file date.
  • Student PIN and parent PIN. You may apply for your PINs at www.pin.ed.gov before attending a FAFSA Frenzy event.

Students can enter for a chance to win a scholarship at the events. To be eligible, winners must submit a completed survey and prize drawing form before leaving a FAFSA Frenzy event and must enroll in a Missouri postsecondary program for the fall 2015 term. Winners will be drawn from a statewide pool.

For more information about the event at the William J. Harrison Education Center, contact Lisa Lee at 314-763-6000; for the event at Wildwood, contact Helen Naumann at 636-422-2000.

FAFSA Frenzy, a program of College Goal Sunday, is offered in Missouri through partnerships between the Missouri Department of Higher Education with the Missouri Association of Student Financial Aid Personnel, the Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority, and USA Funds to assist students and families in completing the FAFSA.
