Meramec Student Chosen as Coca-Cola Leader of Promise Scholar

St. Louis Community College-Meramec student Ana Messmer has been selected as a 2014 Coca-Cola Leader of Promise Scholar.

Messmer will receive a $1,000 scholarship from the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. As Leaders of Promise Scholars, 207 Phi Theta Kappa members have been awarded a total of $207,000 in scholarships.

Messmer, a 2013 graduate of Festus High School, is studying architectural technology. She plans to graduate in summer 2015 and transfer to Missouri S&T study civil engineering and specialize in structural engineering. 

The Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship program provides new Phi Theta Kappa members with financial resources to help defray educational expenses while enrolled in associate degree programs. Scholars are also encouraged to assume leadership roles by participating in Phi Theta Kappa programs.

Independent judges evaluate the applications based on scholastic achievement, community service and leadership potential. More than 900 applications worldwide were submitted for these scholarships.
