Keys Exhibit at Meramec Nov. 13-Dec. 12

October 30, 2014

Keys Exhibit
“Marilee Keys: Iconography of a Garden” will be
at the STLCC-Meramec Contemporary Art Gallery
Nov. 13-Dec. 12.

The Meramec Art Department presents “Marilee Keys: Iconography of a Garden” Nov. 13-Dec. 12 in the Meramec Contemporary Art Gallery on the campus, 11333 Big Bend Road.

This exhibition is a site-specific installation designed for the unique gallery space at Meramec. Keys’ work evolves from her immediate environment by recycling common materials, including organic plant life, and often placing them in modular configurations. Strong and delicate simultaneously, her installations create a complex visual interplay between cast shadows and spatial intervals.

Keys’ work has been featured in many publications including New Art Examiner, Art Papers, Architectural Record and the Atlanta-Journal Constitution.  In 2004, she received an Individual Artist Fellowship Grant from the Alabama State Council on the Arts.

There will be an opening reception 4:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13. The reception and gallery exhibition is free and open to the public.

Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday; and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. The gallery is closed Sundays and holidays.
