St. Louis Community College-Meramec will hold auditions for “Wooed and Viewed & Romance in a Flat” by Georges Feydeau at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, and Wednesday, Oct. 8, in the Meramec Theatre on campus, 11333 Big Bend Road in Kirkwood.

Auditions consist of cold reading from the script. Those auditioning should come dressed for movement. Performance dates are Nov. 19-23.

“Wooed and Viewed and Romance in A Flat” are some of Feydeau’s first plays, written in the early 1880s. These two fast-paced physical comedies are filled with love and laughter. Feydeau reflects the lusty tradition of the French bedroom farce as well as the extravagant humor later to find full expression in the theater of the absurd. Wild plots and quicksilver wit characterize the plays of Feydeau, who has been called the “greatest master of French comedy since Moliere.”

“Wooed and Viewed & Romance in a Flat” is directed by Keith Oliver and designed by Richard Willmore. Scripts are on reserve in the STLCC-Meramec Library.
