Florissant Valley Hosts Summer Job Fair

July 01, 2014

The Career and Employment Services (CES) department at St. Louis Community College-Florissant Valley is partnering with Community Action Agency of St. Louis County Inc. (CAASTLC) to host a Summer Job Fair 11 a.m. -2 p.m., Thursday, July 17, in the Student Center Multipurpose Room.

The campus is located at 3400 Pershall Road in Ferguson.

CAASTLC provides low-income people with emergency and crisis intervention services.

“The job fair is open to students, alumni and the community,” said Michela Walsh, CES manager. “The job fair draws a very diverse pool of applicants and a broad range of employers representing many different industries.”

More than 30 employers are expected to participate. Last year's event attracted more than 500 job seekers.

Business attire is suggested and job seekers are asked to bring a good supply of resumes.

CES offers tips on conducting successful job searches and interviewing skills, assistance with writing resumes and cover letters, as well as an assortment of career preparation workshops.

CAASTLC holds job fairs quarterly. It receives funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Missouri Department of Social Services, Family Support Division.
