Five art students at St. Louis Community College-Forest Park are participating again in the citywide Open Studios Tour, sponsored by the Contemporary Art Museum.  They will exhibit their work and provide hands-on demonstrations in printmaking.

The Art Annex, southeast of the main campus at 5435 Highland Park Drive, will be open 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, June 29. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served and artwork will be for sale.

Ceramics demonstrations on wheel throwing and hand-building techniques will begin at 1 and 3 p.m. by Matthew Isaacson, associate professor who is the ceramics coordinator, and Marija Lajsic, art instructor.

The student artists who are returning for this year’s event are:

  • J’Ann Allen, Mirka Machek Fette’ and Barbara Zucker, who will display printmaking and mixed media.
  • Mary Mosblech, who will demonstrate printmaking using press and silk screens. She specializes in working with layers of plates/silkscreens on paper – some with hand painting.
  • Joanne Stremsterfer, also a printmaker, will show such examples as polymer lithography, woodblock relief, reduction woodblock relief, solar plate, linocut, monotype and silk screen.

More than 160 artists will be involved in the Open Studios Tour, which features guided tours and artist-organized events this weekend.
