May 07, 2014

The St. Louis Community College-Meramec Theatre department will hold auditions for its summer children’s production of Zinita Fowler’s “In Search of the Three Sillies.”

Auditions are slated for 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, and Wednesday, May 14, in the Meramec Theatre on campus, 11333 Big Bend Road. Auditions consist of cold reading; no preparation is required. Cast members will be three males, three females and two flexible roles.

In the adaption of the famous old English folktale, we see Jack, a young man who is about to ask the girl he loves to marry him. When he meets her family, he finds himself having to solve a simple problem, which is devastating them. Young Jack ponders, “How silly can people be?” He decides to start a search. If he can find three other people as silly as his sweetheart’s family, he will return and marry her. This lively play portrays his search for three sillies.

“In Search of the Three Sillies” is directed by Michelle Rebollo and produced by special arrangements with Dramatic Publishing. Performance dates are 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. July7-9, and 7 p.m. July 8.
