St. Louis Community College student Jenna Freund was named to the All-USA Community College Academic Team today at the American Association of Community Colleges Convention in Washington, D.C.

Freund was one of 20 students on the All-USA Academic team, comprised of community college students from across the country who have displayed an outstanding combination of academic achievement and community service. The winners were selected from more than 1,700 students nominated by 800-plus community colleges.

The program is widely recognized as the most prestigious academic honor for students attending community college. It is sponsored by Follett Higher Education Group, with support from the American Association of Community Colleges. Each winner receives a $2,500 scholarship and a medallion.

Freund serves as president of the STLCC-Wildwood Student Government Association, vice president of the Volunteers of Wildwood, and a member of the Science Club. She has been on the dean’s list and received the American Association of Women in Community Colleges Award and was named to the Missouri Community College Association’s All-Missouri Academic Team in March. Through her volunteer activities, she has spearheaded a toy drive for needy children and a food drive for children in food-insecure homes. She hopes to become a pediatrician.
