April 07, 2014

The Early Childhood Educator’s Circle is asking the St. Louis Community College-Forest Park campus to come together for children during the Week of the Young Child, which concludes April 12.

As part of the national week celebrated across the country, the Early Childhood Care and Education department is honoring young children and all those who make a difference in children’s lives.

A Blue Ribbon Buddy program is planned this week in the Highlander Lounge, seeking individuals to make a personal commitment to support the well-being of young children and their families throughout our community. On Tuesday, April 8, representatives will be in the Highlander 3-7 p.m., and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday and Friday, April 10 and 11.

On Wednesday, April 9, the free program “Movies and Munchies” will take place 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in Café East, featuring guest speaker and facilitator Julius Anthony and a showing of “Daddy Day Care,” followed by a discussion, plus free popcorn and punch.

April 14-30 will be an "Advocacy Blitz Campaign Silent Vigil: Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect." Young children and their families depend on high-quality education and care, which help children get a great start and bring lasting benefits to the St. Louis region.

The Week of the Young Child is a time to recognize the importance of early learning and early literacy, and to celebrate the teachers and policies that bring early childhood education and to build public support for high-quality early childhood education programs.
