STLCC-Meramec Theatre Presents “Tales of the Lost Formicans” Feb. 11-16

January 31, 2014

The St. Louis Community College-Meramec Theatre presents “Tales of the Lost Formicans” by Constance Congdon Feb. 11-15 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. in the Meramec Theatre on campus, 11333 Big Bend Road in Kirkwood.

The play is directed by Keith Oliver and designed by Richard Willmore. It is recommended for mature audiences only.

Time Magazine calls this play “a travel guide to middle America conducted by aliens.”

“Tales of the Lost Formicans” follows the story of a woman named Cathy. After her husband impregnates one of his students, she moves back home to care for her father who is battling Alzheimer’s disease.  Cathy’s rebellious son, overbearing mother, self-destructive best friend and nosey neighbor twist things even further as they observe Cathy’s family and document their activities as the model of human society. Through each character’s struggle to find peace in a world spinning out of their control, the audience will experience the sense of loss they feel, be it spiritually, physically, or emotionally.

The Meramec Theatre no longer takes reservations. Admission is free. Seating is onstage and open on a first-come basis. For more information, call 314-984-7562 or visit the Meramec Theatre website.
