STLCC Classic, JUCO Shootout Slated this Weekend

Caris Johnson and the Archers open the STLCC Classic
against Mineral Area College at 5 p.m. Dec. 6.

One of the area’s biggest college basketball weekends of the year will be played out Dec. 6-8 as the St. Louis Community College men’s and women’s squads host tournaments at the Forest Park campus.

The women host the STLCC Classic Dec. 6-7. Other participating schools are Shawnee College, Mineral Area College and Lindenwood-Belleville University’s junior varsity squad.

The Archers open play at 5 p.m. Friday versus Mineral Area College, followed by Lindenwood-Belleville against Shawnee College at 7 p.m.

Saturday’s slate features STLCC against Shawnee College at 1 p.m., followed by Mineral Area and Lindenwood-Belleville at 3 p.m.

The STLCC men will host the third annual JUCO Shootout Dec. 8. As they did last year, the Archers will face Lewis & Clark Community College in the shootout’s opening game at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Other games feature Three Rivers Community College against Southwestern Illinois College at 3 p.m.;  Mineral Area College against Shawnee College (5-2) at 5 p.m., and Fontbonne University’s junior varsity against Lake Land Community College in the finale at 7 p.m.

At the conclusion of the men’s game, STLCC will recognize Randy Albrecht, who retired after the 2012-13 season, for his 34 years of coaching and service to the college.

STLCC’s Forest Park campus is located at 5600 Oakland Ave.
