Lewis & Clark Community College in the opener at 1 p.m.
For the third consecutive year, some of the top regional junior college basketball talent will be on display at St. Louis Community College’s Forest Park campus for the STLCC Shootout on Dec. 8.
Last year’s event drew the largest attendance at Forest Park since the program’s restructuring to a districtwide athletic department in 2011.
Included in last year’s attendance were more than 50 representatives from four-year colleges around the country, including many at the NCAA Division I level.
As they did last year, the Archers (5-3) will face Lewis & Clark Community College (2-4) in the shootout’s opening game at 1 p.m. on Sunday. The Archers outlasted the Trailblazers 47-45 in a defensive-minded game last year.
Other games feature Three Rivers Community College (8-2) against Southwestern Illinois College (7-1) at 3 p.m.; Mineral Area College (5-5) against Shawnee College (5-2) at 5 p.m., and Fontbonne University’s junior varsity against Lake Land Community College (7-1) in the finale at 7 p.m.
The seven junior college teams enter with a combined record of 40-18.
Women Host STLCC Classic
The men’s shootout will be part of a full basketball weekend at STLCC, as the Archers women also will host the STLCC Classic on Friday and Saturday (Dec. 6-7) at Forest Park.
The STLCC women will take on Shawnee Community College on Friday at 5:30 p.m., before concluding their weekend on Saturday for a 1 p.m. game against Mineral Area Community College.
