Auditions for “Additional Particulars” Dec. 4-5 at STLCC-Forest Park
November 26, 2013
The intersecting lives of four Save-a-Bundle Discount Mart employees are explored in “Additional Particulars,” which will be presented Feb. 20-23 at St. Louis Community College-Forest Park. Open auditions will take place 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 4 and 5, in the Mildred E. Bastian Center for the Performing Arts on campus, 5600 Oakland Ave.
Auditions will consist of a brief, memorized monologue and a cold reading from a sample script. Director Jeff Schaefer asks that you bring your availability schedule to the audition.
Roles are available for three males and one female. The first act features characters Glenda and Warren, and the second act is about Raymond and Kenny.
Glenda Balitski is an optimistic but lonely young woman who works in housewares, and has recently moved into her tidy apartment after the death of her invalid mother.
Assistant Manager Warren Grippo, a generous but awkward man of unflagging good manners, has unexpectedly dropped by Glenda’s apartment after work to announce that she’s “Employee of the Month.”
Raymond Fetterman, a maintenance man, on the eve of his 47th birthday, realizes that time is running out on his chances of “having a life,” as he’s trapped in a job he hates. He confides in coworker Kenny Hinkle, a good-natured guy who harbors a heartbreaking secret, during lunch.
The full-length play’s themes are business, friendship and love. Written by playwright Ed Simpson (“The Comet of St. Loomis”), the play premiered in 2000 and won the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award.
