Meramec Music Celebrates the Holidays with Three Concerts

November 21, 2013

The St. Louis Community College-Meramec Music department will be performing three concerts in the upcoming days.

The Meramec Chamber Singers, conducted by Jerry Myers, and guest artists perform traditional and contemporary works from the Philippines and music for the holidays at “A Celebration of Filipino Composers and Arrangers” at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, in the Touhill Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of the University of Missouri-St. Louis. In light of the devastation in the Philippines, proceeds from this concert will go toward disaster relief efforts.

For tickets, contact MeramecMusic@stlcc.edu or the Touhill Center Box Office at 314-516-4949.

Grammy-nominated musician Barbara Higbie returns to Meramec at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, as she joins the Meramec Orchestra and Concert Choir for an evening of holiday classics. The annual holiday concert will take place in the Meramec Theatre, located on campus at 11333 Big Bend Road.

The last performance of the semester features the Meramec Symphonic Band performing eclectic selections in its annual Winter Band Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, in the Meramec Theatre.

The Dec. 5 and Dec. 8 concerts are free and open to the public.
