Musica SLESA to Perform at STLCC-Forest Park

October 23, 2013

Musica SLESA

A lively salsa beat will be heard when Musica SLESA performs at the monthly First Fridays Concert at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, in the Mildred E. Bastian Center for the Performing Arts at St. Louis Community College-Forest Park, 5600 Oakland Ave.

SLESA, the St. Louis Educators of Salsa Association, is a nine-piece band of teachers from around the St. Louis area who love salsa and Latin jazz music.

Thomas Zirkle, Forest Park’s music coordinator, plays congas in the ensemble. Other instrumentation includes the trumpet, trombone, saxophone, piano, bass, timbales/drums and bongos, plus a female singer and a back-up male singer. The horn section also sings back-up vocals.

The concert is free and open to the public.
