St. Louis Community College-Wildwood and the City of Wildwood will partner to host a Shredding Event 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, Oct. 5.

This marks the third year that the event will be held on the parking lot of STLCC’s campus.

The event provides a way for residents and non-residents to dispose of paper, paper folders, CDs and empty pill bottles in a secure and environmentally friendly way. All shredding is done on site, and all materials are recycled.  Participants are asked to bring their paper in a plastic bag or paper sack since cardboard boxes cannot be shredded.

Since the first event in 2011, more than 26 tons of paper was shredded and recycled, saving 442 trees, 9,880 gallons of oil, 78 cubic yards of landfill, 104,000 kilowatts of energy and 182,000 gallons of water.
