STLCC-Forest Park’s Hispanic Heritage Month Activities Focus on Argentina

October 09, 2013

Los Amancay
Los Amancay will perform at Forest Park Oct. 10 in observance of
Hispanic Heritage Month.

The country of Argentina will be highlighted during Hispanic Heritage Month at St. Louis Community College-Forest Park this October.

Campus Life has joined forces with the Arts and Treasures of Latin America (ATLA) non-profit organization to present a special program, “Argentina in St. Louis” 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, in the cafeteria on campus, 5600 Oakland Ave.

The musical group Los Amancay will perform songs representing all countries in Latin America. They represent the Gaucho image of Argentinian folklore, and their voice arrangements, together with the guitars, keyboards, violin, charango, drums and all the Andean flutes, make for a very educational and entertaining presentation.

ATLA promotes cultural awareness and interactions among people by creating ties through knowledge and exposure to the arts of Latin America.
