Forest Park To Conduct Auditions for One-Act Plays

August 15, 2013

St. Louis Community College-Forest Park is hosting the 23rd Annual One-Act Play Festival Sept. 20-22 in the Mildred E. Bastian Center for the Performing Arts on campus, 5600 Oakland Ave.

The festival is presented by the College Theater Council of Greater St. Louis.

Performances are at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Admission to the festival is free and open to the public.

Auditions for Forest Park’s entries, “Checkers” by Dale Doerman, and "Auld Lang Syne" by Beverly Creasey, will take place 5-7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Aug. 22 and 23, in the theater.

Both one-acts are about relationships. Four people are needed to play the male and female characters in each one-act.

"Checkers" is about an elderly couple playing checkers in the park, combining their recollections of earlier years to reaffirm their love.

"Auld Lang Syne" is about two people who meet on a street corner, and catch up.

Carla Moody is the director. She asked that those trying out for parts come prepared with a two-minute reading.
