St. Louis Community College’s ninth annual Bowling for Scholars event April 12 raised $38,163 to help students purchase or rent textbooks and instructional materials for their classes.

Committee member Ellen Gough, manager of campus auxiliary services at STLCC-Wildwood, and Kent Kay, vice chancellor for finance and administration, presented a check to college officials at the May Board of Trustees meeting. The photo of the presentation includes, from left, Libby Fitzgerald, STLCC Board of Trustees member; Gough; JoAnn Digman, executive director of the STLCC Foundation; and Kay.

“The St. Louis Community College Foundation is grateful for the broad based support for this important annual program,” Digman said. “Funds generated from this fun event are distributed to students at all STLCC campuses for the sole purpose of providing them with access to textbooks and needed supplies.”

The event was sponsored by STLCC’s Auxiliary Services department. Previous Bowling for Scholars events have raised more than $203,500 and have helped 1,700-plus students.
