STLCC-Meramec Students Leave Class Adobe Certified
May 16, 2013
Students in Michael Swoboda’s Photo Imaging II class recently took the Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) exam, with 93 percent of students who elected to take the exam earning a passing grade.
The ACA exam is industry-recognized as a validation of entry-level skills in digital communication using Adobe software, and those earning certification are now considered to be workplace-ready.
“I discussed the value of such an exam and demonstrated similar entry-level job tasks and tests that new employees might be challenged with,” Swoboda said of the exam.
Thirteen of the 17 students took the exam, with 12 passing it with a score of 700 or more.
“The students tend to put news of their successful passing of the exam on their resumes, LinkedIn accounts, Facebook pages, etc.," Swoboda said. "The test is an important qualification that students can use and add to their repertoire once they enter the real world.”
Scores have gradually been getting better. The first year Swoboda’s class took the exams, 50 percent passed. The second year, 75 percent passed.
“This summer, we’re going for 100 percent,” Swoboda said.
