ST. LOUIS (April 30, 2013) – As Chancellor Myrtle Dorsey stated in her public press conference on Friday, April 26, the safety and security of all students, faculty and staff is our highest priority.  To that end, we are conducting an internal investigation of St. Louis Community College personnel involved with the incident on the Meramec campus, April 18, 2013.  We will make a statement about our action plan once that investigation is complete.

In the meantime, Chancellor Dorsey announced that she has accepted the resignation of Meramec President George Wasson, effective immediately.  Pam McIntyre has been named as interim president of the Meramec campus, and Dr. Patrick Vaughn, vice president for academic affairs at the Wildwood campus, will serve as interim president of Wildwood. Dr. Wasson was asked to remain available for unfinished actions commenced by him, and in exchange he was placed on paid administrative leave until his contract expires June 30, 2013.

STLCC campuses and educational centers are hosting Safety Forums with students and faculty to gather input and review procedures.

“We are committed to doing all we can to make St. Louis Community College safer for everyone. The safety and security of all students, faculty and staff is our highest priority,” said Chancellor Dorsey.

The Chancellor’s email to St. Louis Community College’s students, faculty and staff is available on the College’s website.
