Jeannine Shaffer, a student at St. Louis Community College-Wildwood, and Joshua Trader, a student from Michigan, recently gave a joint presentation to a group of attendees at the International Convention of Phi Theta Kappa in San Jose, Calif.

Shaffer currently serves as the vice president of the Missouri region of Phi Theta Kappa. Trader serves as the secretary and treasurer of the Michigan region and is a student at Delta College.

Their presentation was entitled, “C4 Collaborations: Bigger is Better!”  Shaffer shared her experience of collaborating with faculty, administrators and other student groups within St. Louis Community College to organize a series of campus events that led up to a Commit to Complete Rally attended by nearly 200 students at Kiener Plaza last fall.

Shaffer also presented to a group of students in Minnesota late last fall about the same topic.

“Your C4 might look different from ours, but the focus is the same – creating a student-led culture of completion on your campus and in your community,” Shaffer said. “It doesn’t matter if you are at a small campus, you can create a meaningful Commit to Complete initiative if you reach out to partner with the critical stakeholders who can help you take it to the next level.”

About 130 conference participants attended the presentation.
