Abigail Wood of Eureka has been selected as a 2013 Coca-Cola Gold Scholar.

Wood, a student at the Wildwood campus of St. Louis Community College, was selected based on scores earned in the All-USA Today Community College Academic Team competition, for which more than 1,800 applications were received this year.

Wood was a member of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, president of the Student Government Association, a student ambassador and an active club member during her time at the college. She now attends the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where she received a full-tuition scholarship.

Only 50 Gold Scholars were named nationwide. The program is sponsored by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation and is administered by Phi Theta Kappa.

Phi Theta Kappa will recognize Wood at this year's annual convention, April 4-6, in San Jose, Calif.  In addition, Wood will receive a scholarship check in the amount of $1,500, a gold medallion and recognition in USA Today.
