Weather Wipes Out Home Opening Week for STLCC Baseball

Tony Dattoli's 2013 STLCC baseball team will have to wait a bit longer to play on their home field this spring. With inclement weather in the area throughout the week, the Archers canceled Tuesday's home opener, as well as this weekend's STLCC showcase.
In the meantime, STLCC will hit the road for the next nine games, including a spring break trip to Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The Archers hope the warmer weather will translate into more productive at-bats, as the Archers have combined to bat .216 in while starting the season 2-4 in two trips to Millington, Tennessee. One of the bright spots offensively has been sophomore Mike Ehrhard, who is batting .462 on the young season.

The Archers had a few strong performances from their pitching staff in Tennessee. Sophomore lefthander David Mullins is 1-0 with 12 strikeouts in eight innings of work for STLCC. Freshman reliever Austin Simokaitis has allowed just one hit in 3 2/3 innings of work in three appearances.

With this weekend's games canceled, the Archers are off until Friday, March 8. The team's next home stand does not begin until March 16, when they host a doubleheader with Three Rivers Community College.
