STLCC men split first two in Texas, will play North Lake College Saturday

January 04, 2013

The Archers didn't wait long to respond to their first loss in nearly two months Thursday, as they defeated Mountain View College 77-68.

Forward Brandon Hannah (Chaminade) led the Archers with 16 points, followed by freshman guards Tremayne Garrett and Travon Williams, who each scored nine. The Archers held just a one-point lead at halftime, but pulled away by outscoring Mountain View 41-33 in the second half.

The win improved the Archers' record to 13-2, as they bounced back from a 94-81 loss to Eastfield College on Wednesday, the game the team dropped since falling to Lincoln College at home on November 3.

In the Eastfield loss, the Archers struggled to an 18-point first-half deficit, before rallying with a 54-point second-half showing. Hannah led STLCC with 14 points in a losing effort.

The Archers will conclude their three-game road trip to the Lone Star state Saturday, when they will take on North Lake College in Irving at 2 p.m. North Lake enters Saturday with a record of 11-5, and has won four of its last six.
