It’s fair to say the Southeastern Illinois College women’s basketball team has had its fill of the Archers this season.

In the second game of the year between the two teams, the Archers dispatched of the Southeastern Illinois 91-65 on Saturday. The previous meeting, on Nov. 8, saw the Archers win 88-69.

This time, the Archers took advantage of a diverse offensive attack, with five different players scoring in double figures. Sophomore guard Datona Ball (Quincy, Ill.) led the way with 21 points. Ball entered the game leading the Archers with 16.3 points per game. Freshman forward Diamond Suggs (Cahokia) scored 19 points, sophomores Lauren Maclin (Ladue) and Kirstie Owen (Salem, Ill.) each scored 13, and freshman guard Kalah Martin (Kirkwood) added 10.

The Archers put together one of their best second halves of the season in Saturday’s win, the Archers outscored the Falcons 51-34. In the Nov. 8 game, the Archers struggled defensively, as the Falcons piled up 48 second-half points.

The Archers also shook themselves of their 3-point shooting slump on Saturday, connecting on four attempts from beyond the arc. The Archers had gone two games without a successful 3-point attempt.

The Archers are now 9-2 on the season, and are winners of five straight. The win was the fourth road win of the season for STLCC. The Archers also are a perfect 5-0 at home at the conclusion of the semester.
