Archers' 2-1 loss to Butler Community College
in the first game of the NJCAA Women's
Soccer Tournament.

On the strength of two first-half goals and a strong defensive performance, Butler Community College held off a second-half rally by St. Louis Community College, as the Archers fell 2-1 in the first game of the National Junior College Athletic Association Women’s Soccer Tournament.

Butler opened the scoring in the 22nd minute on a free-kick goal from Megan Snyder. Later, with just one minute remaining in the first half, the Grizzlies scored again on a goal from Hannah Polomo to give Butler a two-goal advantage at the half.

The second half provided more offensive opportunities for the Archers, but they were unable to make up the two-goal deficit. Freshman midfielder Katie Rapisardo (Mehlville) scored the Archers’ lone goal of the game just five minutes into the second half.

The loss was the first in more than a month for STLCC, who dropped their last game in a 2-1 loss to Parkland College Oct. 9.

The Archers will look to stay alive today, as they face fourth-seeded Tyler Community College (Texas) in the second day of pool play. The game kicks off at 3:30 p.m. CST and will be broadcast at ihigh.com.
