Scoring certainly has not been an issue for the St. Louis Community College’s women’s basketball team four games into this season.

After putting up 88 points Thursday in a win over Southeastern Illinois, STLCC reached triple digits on Saturday with a 104-59 win over Shawnee Community College.

Freshman guard Kalah Martin (Kirkwood) led the way for the Archers with 19 points. Freshman forward Diamond Suggs (Cahokia) and sophomore guard Datona Ball (Quincy, Ill.) each scored 17.

One game after scoring a season-best 52 points in the second half against Southeastern Illinois, the Archers outscored Shawnee 56-35. The Archers also dominated Shawnee last year, winning both games between the two teams and outscoring the Saints 167-79 in the process.

Saturday was a step forward for a defensive unit that struggled at times against Southeastern Illinois, as the Archers held the Saints (1-4) to just 24 points in the first half, the lowest total allowed in any half by the Archers this season.

The Archers (3-1) resume play Tuesday against Malcolm X Community College.
