Women’s Soccer Returns from Florida, Still Seeking First Victory

September 04, 2012

Archers head coach Juergen Huettner made a point of radically altering the first weeks of this season’s schedule, arranging meetings with high-quality teams right away instead of allowing his team to ease into the season.

That approach will likely pay dividends as the Archers are preparing for postseason, but in the meantime, Huettner’s team has certainly taken its lumps in the season’s opening month. The Archers returned Sunday from a two-game road trip to Florida, where they earned a 1-1 tie at Broward College, before concluding their trip with a 4-0 loss to Brevard Community College.

The team returns home with a record of 0-2-1, having been outscored 10-1 in its three games.

The schedule does, however, swing in the Archers’ favor this week, as Friday will mark the first of three consecutive home games. STLCC will take on Union University Friday evening, followed by a Saturday matinee with Heartland Community College. The Archers defeated Heartland 2-0 in the two teams’ only meeting last season, one of five shutout victories for STLCC in 2011.
