"Art Faculty Exhibition" Runs Aug. 30-Sept. 21 at Meramec

Art Faculty Exhibit 2012
2012 "Art Faculty Exhibition" runs Aug. 30-Sept. 21

Members of the St. Louis Community College-Meramec art department will feature current works in a variety of media at the first art exhibit of the semester, “Art Faculty Exhibition,” which runs Aug. 30-Sept. 21 in the Meramec Contemporary Art Gallery, located in the Humanities East building.

“As students and faculty are excited in beginning a new term of study, this show is a great way of starting the new gallery season, and allows students to see the ideas that their instructors are working with,” said Meramec art faculty member Professor David Hanlon.

“The faculty exhibition is presented normally once a year and allows both the full-time and part-time faculty who lead instruction in our art and design areas to feature examples from their current bodies of work. One of the terrific aspects of the show is that visitors can see how these artists explore the nature of various media, seeking to develop concepts in ways they had not done before and providing the viewer with new experiences and ideas. This two-dimensional and three-dimensional work often forces the makers to confront challenges that occur along the way and to make adaptations that lead ultimately to the finished piece.”

There will be an opening reception in the Gallery on Aug. 30 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday; 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. The gallery is closed Sundays and holidays.
