STLCC Commencement Slated for May 20 at Scottrade Center

May 10, 2012

At the first graduation ceremony for the City Campus of the Junior College District of St. Louis-St. Louis County on May 5, 1964, two students received associate degrees in liberal arts. The students received their diplomas in a brief ceremony in the library at the Forest Park campus.

This year, as St. Louis Community College celebrates its 50th anniversary, more than 2,800 degrees and certificates will be conferred at STLCC’s commencement exercises Sunday, May 20, at Scottrade Center, 1401 Clark Ave.

Ceremonies begin at 11 a.m. A total of 2,336 associate degrees and 474 certificates will be conferred. Students who completed bachelor’s degrees through programs between STLCC and both Central Methodist University and Southeast Missouri State University also will receive diplomas during the ceremonies.

The college also will present STLCC 50th Anniversary Alumni Awards to James Buford, president and chief executive officer of the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, and Michael O’Mara, chair and District 4 representative on the St. Louis County Council.
