St. Louis Community College Chancellor Myrtle E.B. Dorsey, left, presents a proclamation from Mayor Francis Slay to STLCC Trustee Margo McNeil, right, in recognition of her six years of dedicated public service to STLCC and the community.

McNeil, who also is a member of the Missouri House of Representatives from District 78, chose not to seek re-election to the STLCC Board of Trustees’ Subdistrict 1 seat. Subdistrict 1 includes the Hazelwood, Ferguson/Florissant, Riverview Gardens, Jennings, Pattonville, Ritenour, University City, Normandy, Clayton and Ladue school districts.

During McNeil’s term on the board, the college:

  • Earned reaccreditation from the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools in 2008.
  • Was reaffirmed as a member of the League for Innovation in the Community College in 2009.
  • Grew and expanded in the community with the opening of the Wildwood campus in 2007, the Bio-Research and Development Growth Park in 2009, the Harrison Education Center in 2010, the Center for Workforce Innovation in 2011 and the Corporate College in 2012.

In her address to the crowd assembled at the March 29 Board of Trustees meeting at the Meramec campus, McNeil praised her fellow trustees, as well as the college’s administration, faculty and staff for their passion and dedication to student success.

“What you are doing here is phenomenal,” McNeil said. “It has been my pleasure to be part of this for six years.”
