St. Louis Community College Suspends Five Students Involved in Fight

On Monday, April 9, 2012, an altercation occurred at the Meramec campus. College officials have issued the following statement:
The safety and security of our college's students, faculty, staff and visitors are of our utmost concern. College police were on the scene almost immediately and the situation was handled in a professional and orderly manner, according to established college procedures. Two students sustained minor injuries. No one else was hurt.
The five students directly involved were suspended for one year from St. Louis Community College, effective immediately. Three of the students were arrested on charges of assault and turned over to the Kirkwood Police Department. College police are reviewing the incident and campus policy to see if any changes should be made, according to Chief Robert Stewart, acting district chief of police and director of emergency preparedness for the college.
