Lincoln Ends Archers’ Winning Streak

streak come to an end Wednesday in a 90-54 loss to
Lincoln College. The Archers close out the regular season
Saturday at home against Wentworth Military Academy.

After dominating their opposition for the better part of two months, the St. Louis Community College men’s basketball team finally met its match Wednesday. The Archers struggled throughout in a 90-54 loss to 13th-ranked Lincoln College Wednesday.

The Archers struggled all evening to contain Lincoln’s offense. The Lynx had five different players reach double figures in scoring, the first time a team has accomplished such a feat against STLCC.

The Archers’ outside shooting was suspect throughout, with the majority of the team’s offense funneled to the post. Sophomore forwards Ryun Davis (McCluer North) and Kyle Rice (Kirkwood), and freshman forward Charley Mueller (Lindbergh) combined for 38 of the Archers’ 54 points.

The loss was the first for the Archers (22-7) since losing at Arizona Western 67-56 on Jan. 3.

The Archers will play their final home game—where they haven’t lost since Dec. 11—Saturday against Wentworth Military Academy. That will be the team’s final tuneup before the Region XVI tournament March 9-10, hosted by Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley. The Archers are the tournament’s top seed, and will face a recent foe in fourth-seeded Wentworth in the first round.
