Cancer Awareness Game Feb. 18 At Forest Park to benefit Leukemia Patient

February 16, 2012

Lady Archers Basketball Coach Shelly Ethridge lost her father, Mike Ethridge, to lung cancer on Nov. 11, 2011, after being diagnosed in December.
A Cancer Awareness Game in memory of Mike Ethridges will be played on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 1 p.m. at St. Louis Community College-Forest Park.
“My dad had never been sick a day of his life, and this horrible disease took him in less than a month,” Ethridge said. “This was my first experience of what a patient and family members have to go through to try to battle this disease. To help fill dad’s void, my family and I decided to focus our efforts on helping another cancer patient. All proceeds for the “Never Give Up” Cancer Awareness game will benefit a young man, who wishes to remain anonymous, that was diagnosed with leukemia in September.
T-shirts will be sold at the game and also in advance. The t-shirts are available in two colors: pink with navy print, and navy with pink print, and the cost is $12 each.
