Meramec Theatre Conducts Auditions for “The Secret in the Wings”

January 17, 2012

The Secret in the Wings
Auditions for "The Secret in the Wings" will be held
Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 in the Meramec Studio Theatre.

The Meramec Theatre will be holding auditions for Mary Zimmerman’s “The Secret in the Wings” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, and Wednesday, Feb. 1, in the Meramec Studio Theatre on campus, 11333 Big Bend Road.

Developed by Chicago-based Lookingglass Theatre Company (2011 Regional Theatre Tony Award winner) and adapted by Mary Zimmerman, “The Secret in the Wings” is a retelling of fairy tales in the Brothers Grimm tradition.

In an updated version of Perrault’s “Beauty and the Beast,” we find the framework for rarely told tales, “The Princess Who Wouldn’t Laugh,” “Three Blind Queens,”  “Allerleirah” and “Silent for Seven Years.”

Directed by Michelle Rebollo and designed by Darren Thompson, “The Secret in the Wings” is suitable for audiences of all ages. Performance dates are April 11-14 at 7:30 p.m. and April 15 at 2 p.m.
