Forest Park Hosts International Fest Celebration Wednesday

November 14, 2011

More than 60 students from the St. Louis Language Immersion Schools will perform at the International Education Festival event from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, in the Student Center Cafeteria at St. Louis Community College-Forest Park, 5600 Oakland Ave.

During the annual event, the college’s international students prepare an array of dishes native to their country, and guests can sample the cuisine using 25-cent tickets available for purchase. A fashion show also takes place, with students outfitted in their country’s customary garb. Clothes worn for special occasions in Africa, the Middle-East, Europe and Asia will be featured.

In addition to the SLLIS singers and musicians, other world entertainment is planned.

The Forest Park campus features a diverse student body from dozens of countries. The language immersion schools have a French and Spanish language school, located in St. Louis City, and will add Mandarin in 2012.
