Meramec faculty members Jim Ibur and Gary Gackstatter, who also are artists and musicians, will present a showcase of their art and music on Friday, Sept. 23, at 7:30 p.m. in Room 102 in the Humanities West building on the Meramec campus, 11333 Big Bend Road. The concert/exhibit is free and open to the public.
Ibur, an associate professor and coordinator of the ceramics program at Meramec, is a potter, sculptor, tile maker and musician. His art education travels have led him through places like Boulder, Colo., Helena, Mont., and Banff, Alberta, Canada. A St Louis native, Ibur recently had the opportunity to play original music on KBBI public radio in Homer, Alaska. He exhibits his ceramics locally, nationally and internationally, and is currently working on a CD of original music with his band, AlienSoul.

Gackstatter conducts the Meramec Orchestra, Symphonic Band and teaches music at STLCC. An active artist, performer, composer and conductor, Gackstatter has earned a reputation as a Renaissance man. He is a two-time Kansas Governor's Arts Award winner, has recorded five CDs of original tunes, written five symphonies, and has exhibited his artwork at the St. Louis Art Fair, Webster Art and Air, Schlafly's Art Festival, and many others.
