Juergen Huettner’s women’s soccer team sure has made it look easy lately. The Archers cruised to a 5-1 win over Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Saturday, which marked the team’s third consecutive win.

This time, it was sophomore forward Brittany Russell (Columbia, Ill.) who led the offensive charge for STLCC. Russell scored four goals, including three in the second half. Russell became the third STLCC player to record a hat trick so far this year, joining forward Erica Kaiping (Waterloo, Ill.) and defender Jessica Schlichtig (Bayless).

The Archers (4-1) have outscored their opponents 22-1 in their current three-game winning streak. They open conference play Tuesday (Sept. 13) when they host Lewis & Clark Community College in a 2 p.m. match at Florissant Valley. They will conclude their current three-game homestand Thursday (Sept. 15) against Southwest Illinois College. The match gets under way at 4 p.m. at Meramec.

Entering Tuesday, STLCC has outscored its opponents 26-1 in its victories. The Archers have benefited from a diversified offensive attack. Russell leads the Archers with seven goals, but is closely followed by defender Schlichtig, who has six.

They face Lewis & Clark Tuesday (Sept. 13) in a 2 p.m. match at Florissant Valley, and then host Southwestern Illinois College in a 4 p.m. contest Thursday (Sept. 15) at Meramec.
