Ariana Jordan
Ariana Jordan earned a certificate of proficiency in information reporting technology from Meramec and now heads her own company, Real-Time Ready Captions LLC. She also is a freelance broadcast captioner for Good Sport Captioning and CaptionMax. Read about her career as a captioner.

St. Louis Community College's Information Reporting Technology (IRT) program will host an information session 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, in Room 201 of the Student Center on campus, 11333 Big Bend Road. Pre-registration is required.

The IRT curriculum is certified by the National Court Reporters Association and offers training in court reporting and captioning using the most current technology and equipment. Educational options include associate degrees and certificates of proficiency and specialization.

The IRT program is the only one in the state of Missouri available completely online. Night classes are also available to provide students the flexibility needed to fit school into their already busy lifestyle. Many instructors also are working professionals in the IRT field and share the expertise and knowledge needed to succeed in the industry.

At $88 per-credit-hour, the yearly in-state tuition rate at STLCC, when compared to similar programs in the United States, is one of the lowest. The median salary for a court reporter in St. Louis is $50,440.

The IRT program sponsors monthly social gatherings with guest speakers, giving students the opportunity to hear industry professionals speak about the everyday challenges of a career in the field. Through the Missouri Court Reporters Association, the IRT program allows for ample networking opportunities with professional reporters. Students can also complete a 50-hour internship with a certified court reporter.
