Thailand Visitors Tour Forest Park Campus

May 05, 2011

Ten visitors from Thailand recently toured the St. Louis Community College–Forest Park campus.

The delegation of seven Ph.D. students and three professors was visiting the University of Missouri-St. Louis for 10 days as part of UMSL’s International Program for Community College Development.

“They were interested in observing how a premiere American community college ‘expands minds and changes lives’ with its diverse, dynamic routine,” said Daniel Yezbick, STLCC English professor.

The group started in Automotive Technology, and then stopped in the Student Success and Writing Centers, toured Hospitality Studies, the Student Center, Physical Education facilities, Media Services and developmental programs.

The international delegation, from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines, observed Yezbick’s English:215 World Fantasy course as well as an English as a Second Language class. They also visited classes in history, reading and literature.

Yezbick offered thanks to all who helped or came by to meet the guests, especially Eve Fonseca, Deborah Henry, Hilary Wilson and Bob Weil, who opened up their courses and programs.

He also cited Jim Monahan, Celia Bouchard, Gene Gardner, Don Cusumano, Karen Malouf, Donna Bakke, Chris Sulincevski and Dean Thao Dang-Williams for assisting with the reception and campus tour, and to Christy Hart at the bookstore and June Williams at the library for donating gifts.
