World-ranked GrandMasters Hikaru Nakamura and Ben Finegold to play at STLCC-Florissant Valley’s Community Chess Festival

St. Louis Community College-Florissant Valley and the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of St. Louis are hosting a Community Chess Festival April 2 at the Florissant Valley campus, 3400 Pershall Road.

The fundraiser is scheduled 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the Student Center and will feature world-ranked GrandMasters Hikaru Nakamura and Ben Finegold. Chess players of all ages and skill levels are welcome. There will be food, a life-size chess board and free chess lessons.

Participants are encouraged to preregister at the Chess Club, or by calling 314-361-2437.

Registration on the day of the event will be 10-10:45 a.m. in the campus bookstore, located in the Student Center. To participate in the tournament, fees are as follows: Special Events, $20; Rated Tournament, $20; and
Unrated Tournament, $5.

Admission is free to those who are not participating; however, donations will be accepted as this is a fundraiser. All proceeds will benefit the Florissant Valley Student Government Association and other campus clubs.
