Denise R. Chachere -- Subdistrict 2 Candidate

Denise R. Chachere, who was elected to the STLCC board in April 2005, also serves as an adjunct professor at both Saint Louis University and Washington University, and also is a self-employed consultant in human resource management and dispute resolution. Chachere currently serves as the board's chair and has previously served two terms as vice chair.

“My own life experiences and roles in leadership give me the qualifications to protect this public investment as well as the ability to advocate for continued public support of its mission to expand minds and change lives every day,” Chachere said.

Chachere has practiced human resource management at service and manufacturing firms in the private and public sectors. She also has more than 20 years of teaching experience in management, statistics, human resource management, employment law, collective bargaining and labor economics.

Chachere is a member of the Association of Governing Boards and the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT). She currently is serving a three-year term on the ACCT Board of Directors, and was elected secretary-treasurer of the ACCT Executive Committee. She has served on ACCT's Governance and Bylaws, Public Policy and Finance, and Audit committees. In addition, she has served for four years as the ACCT Missouri State Coordinator, and plays an active role in state and national advocacy efforts. She is the past president of the Human Resource Management Association of Greater St. Louis.

Chachere expects to complete her doctorate in public policy studies and leadership at Saint Louis University in 2012. She completed her master's degree and doctoral coursework in industrial relations/human resource management at the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana. Her bachelor's degree in management and computer science is from Louisiana State University.
