Meramec men’s basketball coach Randy Albrecht was honored in a halftime ceremony on Dec. 12, commemorating his 700th win as a collegiate basketball coach.

On hand to honor Albrecht was St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley, who read a proclamation declaring Dec. 12, 2010, as “Randy Albrecht Day” in St. Louis County. Albrecht also received a congratulatory letter from Sen. Claire McCaskill, as well as a proclamation from Gov. Jay Nixon.

Zerrie Campbell, Meramec's interim president, presented Albrecht with the game ball from the 700th win, which was signed by the entire team. A banner congratulating Albrecht also was unfurled under the scoreboard.

Bob Bottger, Meramec's manager of physical education and athletics, and Linden Crawford, interim vice president of student affairs, also spoke during the event.

Former players, assistant coaches, family and friends gathered at a reception following the ceremony to help Albrecht celebrate his achievment.
