Ready for some traditional New Orleans-style brass mixed with a little Motown, Southern rock and Chicago blues?

The Funky Butt Brass Band will play a free concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, St. Louis Community College-Forest Park in the Mildred E. Bastian Center for the Performing Arts, 5600 Oakland Ave.

According to Thomas Zirkle, associate professor in the music department at Forest Park, this "very fun band" was voted Best Funk, Soul and R&B Band in the 2010 Riverfront Times Music Awards.

Zirkle has been working hard on new music for his upcoming recital, and he will be joined by some of his musician friends, too. It’s at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, in the Bastian Center on campus. He promises the traditional root beer float toast afterwards.
