The Meramec Theatre presents "Miss Julie" at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 17-20 and 2 p.m. Nov. 21 in the theater on campus, 11333 Big Bend Road.

Written in 1888 by August Strindberg, "Miss Julie" was banned in Strindberg’s Victorian Sweden for its use of strong language and powerful sexual imagery. The play centers on the battle for survival and intimacy in a restrictive political and social society by bringing Miss Julie, a beautiful young countess, together with Jean, her father’s footman. During a Midsummer celebration, they attempt to bridge the gap between gentry and peasant on the common ground of mutual sexual attraction. Due to its content, this play is for mature audiences only.

"Miss Julie" is directed by Keith Oliver, with set design by Richard Willmore. Admission is free and seating is open.

For special seating accommodations, call the Theatre Box Office at 314-984-7562 at least two business days prior to performance.
