STLCC-Florissant Valley To Conduct CONNECT Event

October 25, 2010

St. Louis Community College-Florissant Valley will host the sixth annual CONNECT event 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, in the Multipurpose Room  in the Student Center on campus, 3400 Pershall Road.

CONNECT events are designed to increase communication and camaraderie among faculty, staff and administrators at both the college and 17 feeder high schools in an effort to ease the transition for students from one institution to the other. Florissant Valley has conducted annual CONNECT events since 2005.

CONNECT events have resulted in partnerships such as dual credit programs and conversations about innovative instructional techniques. High school faculty, staff and superintendents learn about college resources, such as the African-American Male Initiative and the Mobile Tech Center, which can be requested to visit their schools. They also have the chance to meet with peers in their respective discipline groups to discuss collaborative efforts.

The CONNECT program was named the STLCC District Innovation of the Year in 2008.
