Free Seminar to Consider Regional Workforce Trends

St. Louis Community College, in conjunction with the St. Louis Business Journal and Missouri Career Centers, will present 2010 State of the St. Louis Workforce: Looking Beyond the Veil of Recession on Aug. 11 at the Missouri History Museum, 5700 Lindell Blvd. The free presentation and panel discussion is open to the general public and will feature regional thought leaders addressing the latest trends in the region’s workforce.

The seminar will kick off at 7:30 a.m. with a continental breakfast and welcome by Ellen Sherberg, publisher of the St. Louis Business Journal.

At 8 a.m., Marti Romitti, Director of the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center (MERIC) at the Missouri Department of Economic Development; and David Laso, President of Strategic Research & Analytics, LLC, will deliver formal presentations on the current state of the St. Louis workforce, based on the latest business research and intelligence.

Presentations will be followed by a strategic conversation with a panel of representatives from business, higher education and public workforce systems.  The discussion will be facilitated by Rod Nunn, vice chancellor for workforce and community development at St. Louis Community College. The program will conclude by 10 a.m.
