The University City Community Band will present a concert featuring the compositions and arrangements of  Meramec's Gary Gackstatter, assistant professor in music, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20.

The concert is part of its summer concert series honoring Missouri composers. The band will perform Gackstatter’s "Flying," "The Sky" and "The Silly Circus," in addition to arrangements "The Great Escape" and "Bridge Cruise." Clarinet soloist Bob Baumann will be featured on "Granny Does Your Dog Bite?" and Gackstatter will perform "The Prairie" on fluglehorn.

Gackstatter, who conducts the Meramec Symphonic Band and the Meramec Orchestra, has been composing and publishing works for more than a decade. His works have been performed at national festivals, including the MidWest Clinic in Chicago, and by all-state high school groups, as well as internationally. He has composed five symphonies, each combining the music with various other art forms.

The University City Community Band is conducted by Tom Poshak and features many of the areas finest musicians. Admission for Tuesday night's performance is free.
