Zerrie D. Campbell, interim president of St. Louis Community College’s Forest Park campus and president emeritus of the City Colleges of Chicago, has been named interim president of STLCC’s Meramec campus. Campbell begins work at the Meramec campus Aug. 9.
Campbell will oversee and evaluate operations and serve as advisor to Chancellor Zelema Harris while the campus opens the process of selecting a permanent replacement for Paul Pai, Ed.D., who resigned his position as president effective June 30.
“I am pleased and excited that we have a dynamic person with proven leadership skills to lead the Meramec campus through this time of transition,” Harris said.

“I am honored to accept the position of interim president at St. Louis Community College at Meramec and look forward to working with the dynamic faculty and staff on the Meramec campus,” Campbell said. “During this past year at Forest Park, I have grown committed to St. Louis Community College and have developed an immense pride and respect for the college’s role as one of the leading educational institutions in the state, as well as in the country.”
George Wasson, acting president at Meramec, was pleased to hear that Campbell was to be appointed as the campus interim president.
“She has been an outstanding asset to the college this year while serving as the interim president at Forest Park, and I have developed a good working relationship with her and look forward to working with her this next year,” Wasson said.
Wasson will continue to serve as acting president until Campbell takes leadership in August, and then will return to his role as vice president for academic affairs.
